Steeping: Dual Listening for YouTube
Dual Listening directly on youtube.com — every sentence plays in the original, then in your language, sentence by sentence.
Why use the extension?
- Works on every video. The extension runs on youtube.com itself, so embed restrictions (the “Playback on other websites” wall) don’t apply.
- Same Dual Listening mechanic as the web app. Each sentence plays in the original language, then a spoken translation, then advances. Sentence by sentence, all the way.
- No per-video setup. Once installed, it activates on any YouTube watch page. No URLs to paste, no separate session to start.
Web app or extension?
Both run the same Dual Listening mechanic. The difference is where the listening happens:
- Web app (this site, at
/youtube) — paste a YouTube URL, listen inside Steeping. Saves to your history. Works for any video that allows embedded playback. - Extension — listen directly on youtube.com. Works for any video, including the ones that disable embedded playback. No URL-paste step.
